Dozens of sex crimes revealed at train stations

SEX crimes at train stations across the UK have soared to an all-time high, new figures from British Transport Police (BTP) reveal.

Since 2022, there have been over 200 reported sex crimes at train stations in the West Midlands, according to fresh data obtained by Sexual Abuse Compensation Advice.

And it comes amid a national 10% rise in recorded sexual offences against women on railways from the previous year, up from 2,246 to 2,475, the BTP’s 2024 report shows.

Sex offences at train stations in the West Midlands have been rising over the past three years, with of 84 recorded in the last year. This figure rose from 79 sex crimes in 2023, and again from 68 in 2022.
