Anger after quango pays out just £300k of £2m anti-fast fashion fund

CAMPAIGNERS against fast fashion have slammed an SNP quango after it awarded just £300,000 of a £2million fund for sustainable clothing schemes in two years.

The cash was supposed to help reduce Scotland's carbon footprint from the mass production of low-cost garments.

But the Circular Textile Fund - administered between 2022 and 2024 by Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS) on behalf of the Scottish Government paid out just £293,087 to three successful applicants.

The leftover £1.7million has been "retained" by SNP ministers, documents seen by the Sunday Mail confirm, with the fund now closed.

Activists branded the failure a "huge missed opportunity" - with textiles now Scotland's most polluting type of household waste, beating plastic.
