NEIL ROBERTSON has a mountain to climb to keep alive his dreams of becoming a multiple world champion.

- BY NEIL GOULDING

The Aussie, Crucible king 15 years ago, will resume 7-2 down to qualifier Chris Wakelin tonight.

Robertson famously checked out of his hotel room at 11-5 behind in the second round to Martin Gould before winning 13-12 and going on claim 2010 glory.

And another ferocious fightback is required after Wakelin, chasing his first Crucible win at the fourth attempt, raced 6-1 up with breaks including a 108.

Robertson stopped the rot with a century before Wakelin won a mammoth 55-minute final frame of the session on the black.
