Famous faces love Glasgow venue

ONE of Scotland's most historic theatres is preparing for its first show after a multi-million pound upgrade.

The Citizens in Glasgow's Gorbals area was closed for seven years for the major revamp. And this week the venue, which opened in 1943, will raise the curtain on its first play of the new era. Here are just 10 stars who have trod the famous old stage...

SIOBHAN REDMOND

ONE of Scotland's best-known actresses with starring roles in various movies and TV shows including Taggart, Holby City and EastEnders, the Glasgow-born star is a big supporter of the Citizens. She has appeared in several plays there including playing Queen Elizabeth I in Mary Stuart.
