Leith men cash in on calls that leave Buds livid

SLICK HIBS ARE VAR TOO GOOD

JOSH THE JOB Mulligan celebrates his opener with Martin Boyle and winger Nicky Cadden

HIBS finally ended their Saints jinx - but the Buddies were left cursing VAR after a cruel evening in Paisley.

Wonderful strikes from Josh Mulligan, Chris Cadden and sub Miguel Chaiwa did the damage for David Gray's side as they dumped St Mirren for the first time in nine league meetings since May 2023.

But the first two strikes arrived after the home side were denied two goals of their own by VAR spotting the narrowest of offsides.

The first came after five minutes when Marcus Fraser headed home at the front post - only for VAR to notice he'd gone half a yard early.

Hibs made them pay when Mulligan broke the deadlock midway through the half.

Richard King failed to control a hefty pass from his keeper Shamal George and was robbed by Jamie McGrath whose cutback from the left was perfect for Mulligan to fire a first-time effort low into the net.

Saints rallied for a quick response and Keanu Baccus and Liam Donnelly were denied by superb Raphael Salinger saves.
