Rapist drops appeal plans

Serial abuser was jailed for more than 13 years

A SERIAL rapist who was jailed for attacking three women has abandoned plans to appeal his conviction and sentence.

Liam Sharpe was jailed in February for 13 years and 10 months after being convicted of carrying out a campaign of cruelty, violence and rape against his former partners.

All of the mums bravely gave evidence in court to see Sharpe - who was already serving a four-year jail sentence for domestic abuse convictions against two of the women - jailed for raping them.

In April, Sharpe, 37, of Coatbridge, launched a bid for freedom after instructing his legal team to challenge his conviction and sentence.

He was given a deadline of April 30 to file papers setting out the grounds of his appeal.
