Special training keeps Carson fit

DUNDEE star Trevor Carson admits he'll need a knee replacement when he finally hangs up his gloves.

The gutsy keeper is on a special programme where he only trains with his team a couple of days a week, with the rest of his time spent in the gym, strengthening his knee and working on fitness.

The 37-year-old still has another season on his contract beyond this one but knows he will need to go under the knife eventually.

Carson said: "I've been told I'm going to need it - but if I got it now I couldn't play again.

"That was the conversation I had with the surgeon.

"You need to find a programme that works for you. I'm lucky that my manager Tony Docherty and his staff accommodate that.

"Hopefully, I can repay him with my performances now. I've got another year after this."
