LEGENDS' PEP TALK

RUSSELL MARTIN hopes a pep talk from Sir Alex Ferguson and John Greig will fire up new-look Rangers to dump Panathinaikos. Ibrox boss Martin enlisted the icons ahead of Tuesday's Champions League crunch with the Greeks.

- BY FRASER WILSON

Martin sweating on the fitness of Thelo Aasgaard for the huge Euro clash - insists Gers' greatest-ever player Greig and legendary Scots manager Ferguson were the ideal men to impress the standards required on his players.

Greig captained Gers to their only Euro success in the 1972 Cup Winners' Cup, and Martin believes he and his old Ibrox teammate Ferguson have done his team talk for him as Rangers launch their bid to reach the £40million promised land of the Champions League proper.

He said: "We have to get into the habit of winning and playing the way we want to play. It has to be about us.

"It has to be about our intention, our habits and what we do.
