Give us 2 more hours to toast war heroes

PUBS in Scotland will not open late to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day despite venues in England and Wales enjoying extended hours.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer last week announced bars that normally close at 11pm can keep serving until lam on May 8.

However due to different licensing laws, Scots pubs will close at their normal time. Susan Young, editor of hospitality bible DRAM, called for Scots to have the same opportunity to raise a toast to veterans.
