ALL tower blocks in Scotland should have “death trap” mains gas ripped out and replaced as an urgent safety precaution, a leading Scots engineer has said.

The warning comes after the Sunday Mail highlighted collapse fears at more than 200 blocks built with large concrete panels, including dozens of potentially unsafe buildings with gas.

But Dave Russell, Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, said the problem extends to all of Scotland's more than 800 tower blocks.

He pointed to the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire which killed 72 people.
