Appreciation: K. L. F. Wijedasa
Sunday Island
|November 16, 2025
KLF Wijedasa, best known to his friends as KLF, passed last week having spent a simple life seeking neither praise nor kudos. His was a fruitful life extending to 93 years. Though he was not as active as before in the last lap of his life, he was looked after very well by his wife, Ransiri and his daughter and son-in-law. But for their devoted care during his last few years when he underwent two very serious surgeries, he would have left this world much earlier.
It was indeed sad to see a former 100 yards national champion of Ceylon, whose record remained intact for a very long time, and a man always on the playing fields, confined to his home. His mind was very active till the last moment. While in this state he wrote his book on athletics and other articles to the newspapers.
