William 'shocked' over death of nanny's stepson in terror attack

PRINCE William says he is "shocked and saddened by the tragic death" of his former nanny's stepson in the New Orleans terror attack.

Ed Pettifer was confirmed as one of 14 people killed when an Islamic State fanatic, who previously served in the US Army, drove a pick-up truck through crowds in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Tiggy Legge-Bourke looked after the Prince of Wales and his brother Harry between 1993 and 1999, and was a close companion to them following the separation of their parents, Charles and Diana. She accompanied them on holidays and helped the young princes adjust to the loss of their mother in 1997.

In a personally signed message on the Kensington Palace's social media accounts yesterday, William said: "Catherine and I have been shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ed Pettifer. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Pettifer family and all those innocent people who have been tragically impacted by this horrific attack. W."
