Two thirds of today's students have anxiety

Researchers looked at the mental health of nearly 12,000 students across 15 countries to see how students were coping.

They found 62 per cent of UK students had experienced daily feelings of anxiety, the fourth highest after the US, Brazil, and Australia.

Less than half (49 per cent) of UK students feel optimistic, the lowest of any country surveyed.

About two-thirds of UK students (66 per cent) say they are not sleeping enough, while more than half (56 per cent) say they have suffered academic burnout.

At the same time 43 per cent of UK students say they struggle to meet people or make friends, the fourth highest after Australia, the US, and South Africa.
