Trump's return to brush with death spot

A SECRET Service ring of steel surrounded Donald Trump last night as he prepared to hold a rally in the same spot where he was almost killed by an assassin three months ago.

Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for the federal agency, confirmed: "The former president is receiving heightened protection." This is said to include additional snipers, aerial surveillance by drone and a giant bulletproof glass screen in front of Mr Trump's podium.

His return to Butler, Pennsylvania, comes 12 weeks after he sustained a bullet-grazed ear when a lone gunman opened fire from a rooftop overlooking the open-air site on July 13. His daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who is also co-chair of the Republican National Committee, said yesterday: "This is important to him. He feels a deep connection to the people of Butler because he nearly lost his life there.
