A WHEELCHAIR was the key to self-confidence for Milo Earley — and the two-year-old's new skills have left his family in awe.

Milo's new wheelchair 'immediately built up his confidence'

Lucie, Peter and their son Milo in his wheelchair thanks to Whizz Kidz

Milo was too young to even be assessed for a chair by the NHS, so in August last year Whizz Kidz stepped in. Our Express Christmas appeal for 2025 is supporting the children's charity as it faces an unprecedented funding crisis due to overwhelming demand.

And seeing Milo take hold of his wheels for the first time was an emotional moment for his mother Lucie, 29. She said: “It felt like the closest I’ve got to first steps. I had a little cry.

“He picked up the wheeling quite quickly, learning to propel himself forward.”

After providing personalised manual and powered wheelchairs to give children freedom and independence for more than three decades, Whizz Kidz recently had to close its waiting list.

There are more than 1,000 children waiting and more families desperate to apply.
