Kemi: We cannot fight antisemitism with ‘nice words’

KEMI Badenoch urged stronger action to tackle rising antiemitism, saying “we cannot tackle this with nice words” as she visited the scene of the Manchester synagogue terror attack.

The Conservative leader was joined by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and Assistant Chief Constable John Webster at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, in Crumpsall, yesterday.

It came as counter-terror police were granted extra time to question four people arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, with a further two people also in custody.

Raids have been carried out in at least three locations across Manchester and Bolton in connection with the attack, with forensic officers deployed as part of the investigation.

A minute’s silence was held at Old Trafford before Manchester United’s match against Sunderland yesterday in tribute to the victims.
