New destinations and experiences are taking off as holiday needs evolve, LAUREN TAYLOR discovers
Bookings for holidays are in full swing, and if you are in need of some inspiration, check out these travel trends that are predicted to be big this summer...
SOLO GETAWAYS
Much Better Adventures has seen a 55% increase in the number of solo travellers in 2026 so far, compared to last year.
The company's co-founder, Sam Bruce, says: "We constantly hear that people aren't willing to let indecisive, busy or flaky friends dictate their life experiences."
Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam are proving popular, "though staples like Morocco, Italy, Portugal and Norway continue to be firm favourites", Sam adds.
KEEP IT COOL
Cool-cations are going strong and Regent Holidays is seeing a clear trend towards Northern Europe. Norway and Iceland are topping the list.
Slovenia is predicted to be big by Naturetrek's managing director Andy Tucker, as well as Switzerland and Italy's Northern Alps, attracting visitors in search of fresh air and alpine flowers this summer.
Inghams Ski has seen a shift as travellers are looking to enjoy mountains in the summer at off-season ski resorts, such as Scotland's Fort William and Glencoe, Jackson Hole in the US, and Norway's Voss.
