Concern for new Russian weapons after N Korea pact

But new Russian weapons following a “war pact” between Vladimir Putin and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un could cause serious problems for Ukrainian forces.

Last night’s announcement by the general staff of Ukraine’s armed forces said Russia had suffered “significant losses” when Ukrainian forces captured the village of Andriivka, only seven miles from the Donetsk town of Bakhmut, that was captured by Russia in May after some of the bloodiest fighting of the war.

It caused Britain’s most senior military officer to confirm that Ukraine had finally taken the initiative.

Chief of the Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said: “In the north they are holding and fixing Russian forces there and in the south they are making progress between 10 and 20km.”
