Our biggest night - let's just go for it

COUNTY boss Dave Challinor wants his side to provide another "special" Edgeley Park night, as The Hatters prepare to do battle with Leyton Orient on Wednesday evening for a place in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

Our biggest night - let's just go for it

After Saturday's breathless 2-2 draw at Brisbane Road in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals, both sides head to Edgeley Park on Wednesday night (13th May) for the deciding clash with all still to play for.

In the aftermath of Saturday's first leg, Challinor had reflected on Charlie Kelman's contentious, clearly offside opening goal as "the worst refereeing decision" in the Hatters boss' fifteen-year managerial career to date - in what Challinor had also described as the biggest game of his managerial career.

The former Hartlepool United chief admits that Wednesday's crunch tie is now even bigger, with the scores even and all up for grabs in what becomes, effectively, a one-off tie to reach Wembley.

"Wednesday is one step closer to the end of the season, one step closer to achieving what we set out to achieve at the start of the season.

"I said that last Saturday was the biggest game of my managerial career, and Wednesday night will be that much bigger.

"We've given ourselves this opportunity in a one-off game, at home, to progress to a Wembley final."

"We didn't learn a massive amount from Saturday, just as I imagine Leyton Orient didn't learn a great amount. It was a really close game, and I don't think there's anything that happened from our side that shocked Richie (Wellens), and probably the same the other way around.
