Grandad’s 30-mile charity walk to mark diamond anniversary

A GRANDAD-OF-SEVEN will be celebrating his diamond wedding anniversary by walking for three days, raising money for a charity in Uganda he founded with his wife.

Determined pensioner Keith Mills, aims to cover over 30 miles between Sheffield and Stockport, for charity ‘Forever Friends of Uganda, which helps some of the poorest children in the country to receive an education.

Keith founded the charity alongside wife, Jeanette, who he met in a history lecture at the City of Sheffield College of Education in 1961. Both studying to be teachers, the pair quickly became inseparable.

Keith said: “I’m outward going and rather loud, and she’s the opposite ~ but then we come together and do things really well as a team. I think that’s how our relationship has worked for so long”

Now, Keith is planning his largest fundraiser yet, and has decided there is no better way to celebrate 60 years with his wife, then raising money for the charity they founded together.

Keith said: “From where we met to where we live, that’s my goal.”
