Hamish's Wimbledon dream ends in heartbreak

It was heartbreak at the final hurdle for Strathblane’s Hamish Stewart as his Wimbledon dream ended at the final hurdle.

The 25-year-old, the world number 550, had made his way through two rounds of qualifying at the Roehampton site to put himself on the chance of qualifying for his first ever Grand Slam.

But he lost out in four sets to Switzerland’s Leandro Riedi in just over two hours, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Stewart secured his first win with a walkover success against Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot-ranked well above the Stirlingshire player at 267 - after Vacherot pulled out of the contest a set and 6-5 up in the second.
