Stirling Uni athlete Ryan Martin has been putting in the miles — with the reward being a call-up for his country.
The third-year student will compete for Great Britain & Northern Ireland at the upcoming Under-23 European Athletics Championships, set to take place in the Norwegian city of Bergen beginning on July 17.
Martin is one of 44 athletes picked for a strong-looking national squad and it represents a major step forward in the 21-year-old's fledgling career.
Reacting to the news, Martin said: "When I got the call, it was a massive shock and then a feeling of excitement-it's an honour to represent my country-something I've worked towards for the past 12 years.
