Jason vows to work on recipe after missing world gong

A Stirling butcher who missed being crowned World Haggis Champion by a whisker vows to keep on trying until the elusive prize is his.

Jason Rendall (42), who runs online Rendalls Quality Butchers at Springkerse, won the East of Scotland Championship before then being named Reserve Champion in the 2025 World Haggis Championships at Perth recently.

Jason’s recipe has already proven itself on the Scottish competition stage, being a former Golden Haggis and People’s Champion winner.

This is the first time the Rendall haggis has been tested on the Scottish Craft Butchers’ world platform, however, and Jason is thrilled to have taken a regional title and a reserve slot in the country's most prestigious haggis competition.

Jason beat off stiff competition in a field of 56 entries at the Scottish Craft Butchers’ Trade Fair to narrowly miss out on global glory.
