Several Sikh organisations protest over inaction against revenue official of harassing minorities

Several Sikh youth organisations staged protests in Rajouri, Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Jammu against the alleged failure of the Poonch district administration to safeguard minority communities.

The protests erupted following multiple complaints of harassment faced by Sikh and Hindu families in Muslim-majority areas of Poonch, which, according to protestors, have not been acted upon by the administration.

Protesters specifically named Naveed Ahmad, a Patwari of Halqa Shindhara in Tehsil Haveli, accusing him of making derogatory remarks against the Sikh community in a video that recently went viral on social media.

The video has sparked outrage, with Sikh leaders calling it an attempt to damage communal harmony in the region. Naveed, a revenue department official, is also accused of tampering with land records belonging to Sikh and Hindu families.
