In a decisive move, the Jammu administration has disconnected electricity and water supply to an illegal Rohingya settlement near Nideesh Enclave, Channi Rama, following a complaint lodged by the Residents’ Welfare Association of the locality. The action was taken after the office of the Tehsildar Bahu received a formal application from the association, raising concerns over the unauthorized occu-
pation of government land by a group of Rohingyas. According to the complaint, the settlers had erected makeshift Jugis (huts) and were allegedly operating illegal scrap businesses, posing serious law and order, sanitation, and safety issues for residents.
