SUPERMARKET giant Lidl wants to increase its UK market share with plans for 40 more stores to open this year.

The German-owned budget chain has published a list of potential locations as part of a £500 million expansion plan.
It includes three branches in Stoke-on-Trent at Trentham, Lightwood and Meir, as well as relocating the current Newcastle-under-Lyme store and building two more in the town, with another in Chesterton.
Meanwhile, Cheadle, Biddulph, Stone, Alsager, Congleton, Crewe, Sandbach, Nantwich and Stafford are also being eyed up for branches.
