On Sunday, November 2, Embrace Life, founded in 2016, hosted a fun day to celebrate life and community spirit, at a fun-day, at Zandvlei Resort, featuring games, dominoes, face-painting, and a bring-and-braai.

The nonprofit organisation empowers youth in Lavender Hill and surrounding areas. Founder Mark Blake, inspired by his own challenging upbringing, said the goal is to help people find purpose and celebrate life while they are still alive. (“Embrace Life: Giving hope and purpose to vulnerable youth,” November 26).
On Thursday, October 16, a double murder in which a 26-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were killed and two others injured, sparked residents and community leaders to call for urgent action to restore safety.
