Parliament Winter session: Rajya Sabha continues discussion on 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram

Lok Sabha will continue its discussions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the eighth day of the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.

Senior Congress MP Manish Tewari opened the debate on Tuesday (December 9, 2025), with Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi extending the discussion from the Opposition side, levelling serious accusations that the ECI is colluding with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to “shape elections”.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha took up the discussion on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram on Wednesday (December 9, 2025). The Upper House will also take up the discussion on election reforms next on Thursday (December 11, 2025), with Union Home Minister Amit Shah likely to initiate the discussion on SIR.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi appeals to the people of the country to keenly listen to this discussion on Vande Mataram so that correct history is recorded. She also demands discussions on Quit India movement and the freedom struggle so that people who learn history from WhatsApp will stop.
