TV star Alex reveals she 'struggled to speak' when she was younger

THE One Show's Alex Jones has interviewed some of the biggest names in showbusiness, but admits she “struggled to speak” as a youngster due to shyness.

The 48-year-old rose to fame on Welsh television before landing a spot on the popular BBC One show 15 years ago.

She first ventured into the world of television as a student, sitting her final university exams while appearing as a contestant on Sky One’s reality TV show Prickly Heat in Magaluf. Ammanford-born Alex however admits she is naturally an “introvert” and struggled with shyness at school.

When asked what she was like as a child by Jaime Laing on the Great Company podcast, Alex replied: “I was incredibly shy. Like painfully shy to the point where my parents thought, ‘There’s something wrong with her.”
