A DRAMATIC conclusion is in store between the top two sides in the South Wales Premier Cricket League.

Leaders Newport are just four points ahead of second-placed St Fagans with three games of the season remaining.

And it could all come down to a final-day shootout at the end of the month when the two go head-to-head in Newport.

Newport stayed out in front at the weekend with a 78-run win at Bridgend Town.

Inform Newport skipper Harry Friend carried his bat for an unbeaten 100 as the visitors made 249-7 after being put into bat. Mujeid Ilyas added 50.

Bridgend were always struggling after slipping to 43-4, and even though Thomas Baker scored 46, they fell short on 171 all out. Dean Cosker took 3-11.

St Fagans are just four points adrift after they saw off Abergavenny by 173 runs.

The inform Jeremy Lawlor once again starred with the bat for the Stags, his knock of 88 which featured six fours and five sixes - the cornerstone of his side's total of 317-7.

Steven Reingold added 44, Andrew Gorvin 42 and Dan Lewis-Williams was 40 not out.

Reingold then starred with the ball, his spell of 4-35 helping to dismiss Abergavenny for 144. Tom Pipe scored 45 for the visitors and Morgan Bevans 40, the pair sharing a partnership of 93 for the fourth wicket.

Pontarddulais recorded one of the biggest margins of victory in many seasons as they routed Ynystawe by 270 runs.

Cameron Herring blasted a wonderful unbeaten 161 as Bont raced to 329-3. His runs came off 131 balls and his knock featured 19 boundaries and two sixes.
