Ponty bosses consider a surprise move to join SRC

PONTYPRIDD are considering a surprise bid to take a place in the Super Rygbi Cymru, despite previously turning down the opportunity to join.

The Sardis Road club currently play in the Welsh Premiership, after declining to apply for one of the 10 places in the competition, which launched back in 2024.
They were joined by Merthyr in rejecting the competition, which was described by Merthyr chairman Sir Stan Thomas as "commercial suicide".
The reduction in the number of fixtures, the club claimed, would potentially "jeopardise its solvency as a commercial entity".
