'Old' town-centre model is dead, says former minister

A FORMER Welsh minister has warned the traditional town-centre business model is “dead”, arguing there are no “magic bullets” such as free parking or abolishing business rates.

Labour's Lee Waters said supermarkets, out-of-town retail, online shopping and the pandemic have “enormously disrupted” high streets, calling regeneration a “gnarly, knotty problem" rooted in economics.
