Ex-Wales heroes take aim at plan for pro future

TWO former Grand Slam heroes believe the Welsh Rugby Union has spread more uncertainty with their decision to axe one of the professional sides.

WRU bosses revealed their blueprint for the future last week, with one team based in the east, one in the west and one in Cardiff.

But there is no clarity on timescale or whether the team in the west will be the Ospreys or Scarlets, with suggestions the two could merge or end up fighting it out during a tender process.

The Ospreys were due to move into a new stadium at St Helens next year, but the WRU's bombshell decision has obviously cast doubt on those multi-million pound plans.
