Course planning for repeat success

THERE is still a meeting to go before the year is out, but Ffos Las chiefs are already turning their attention towards 2026.

The Christmas Party Raceday staged at the Carmarthenshire course next week will bring the curtain down on what has been a successful 12 months for the track.

Ladies’ Day in August attracted a crowd of more than 5,000, while the racing has been of a high quality throughout, with a five-timer for champion jockey Sean Bowen back in April arguably the highlight.

The aim now for course bosses is to continue building on that successful platform.

“We've got a really good fixture list next year, which includes racing on St David's Day,” said Ffos Las temporary general manager Steph Geer.

“We have a Family Fun Day in April along with a £1 raceday.

“And Ladies’ Day at the end of August is our biggest day of the year. Historically it’s a really strong day with people coming from Llanelli, Swansea and other parts of South Wales.

“It's a really big social event and we get a good younger crowd as well.”

Ffos Las will stage 29 meetings across 2026 and course bosses believe the various annual membership offers will prove popular in the coming weeks.
