Coates’ class shines through as Morriston hit the goal trail

MORRISTON Town went on the goal trail as they eased into the next stage of the JD Welsh Cup.
The Swansea side won 8-2 at Treorchy BGC in the second qualifying round.
It was a much smoother passage than Morriston endured in the opening round when they edged out Radnor Valley on penalties.
Without a number of regulars, Morriston were forced to include their coach, former Swansea City favourite Jonathan Coates, on the bench.
Now 50, Coates - who played more than 300 games for Swansea and won a title under John Hollins - showed his prowess and fitness after coming on as a substitute in the 67th minute.
He helped himself to two goals in the final five minutes which sealed a convincing win for the visitors.
Luke Harris, formerly of Ammanford and Briton Ferry Llansawel, weighed in with a hat-trick and the rout was completed by Luke Dalling, Jon Omoleigho and Kallum Owen, who have all joined the club this season.
Evans & Williams are also through.
The Albies top the Elite Stands Ardal South West League, but they needed a penalty shootout to get past Neath League side Bryncoch.
It ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.
