A day of cheer as pupils' struggles and hard work pays off
South Wales Evening Post

SWANSEA'S A-level students are celebrating after achieving excellent results.
The overall pass rate (grades A* to E) of 98.0 is above the Welsh average of 97.5.
Swansea results in 2025 are excellent with an amazing 32.8 being the top A*-A grades (29.5 for Wales).
Overall 81.8 of grades were C or better in Swansea (Wales 76.5).
More than 600 young people from the seven Swansea schools with sixth forms were waiting to find out how they'd got on in the results which are important to their ambitions of going on to university or other education and training.
Swansea Council's cabinet member for education and learning, Robert Smith, said: “All our A-level student deserves huge congratulations for their achievements this year and I wish them the very best for their futures and hope they will look back fondly on their time at our excellent schools in Swansea.
“Of course their achievements would not have been possible without the hard work and support of our schools and our teachers, as well as students’ families, so I’d like to thank all who contributed to today’s success.”
Yesterday, we attended Bishop Vaughan Catholic School, where headteacher Emma Pole said: “We're absolutely thrilled for the pupils collecting their results today, as they’re seeing that their hard work has truly paid off! The most important consideration for us at Bishop Vaughan is whether our pupils have fulfilled their potential and received the outcomes that allow them to fulfil their ambitions, whatever those may be. We're delighted, then, to see that they have indeed done so, and that they will be able to take up the degree courses they've set their hearts on, from aerospace engineering and architecture to law, medicine, nursing and economics.”
One pupil there overcame personal tragedy to achieve her goals.
