Westlife get a little songwriting help from new friend Ed Sheeran
Shields Gazette
|November 13, 2025
With 14 UK number one singles and eight number one albums, Westlife are the most successful boyband in British chart history.
-
Only Elvis Presley and The Beatles have produced more chart-topping singles - currently Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily - with their late-1990s heyday which spawned a string of chart-topping singles like Flying Without Wings, You Raise Me Up and If I Let You Go.
The Irish group are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a single, Chariot, a compilation album, and a UK tour.
The new single sees Westlife team up with Ed Sheeran, who wrote Chariot for the band and performed with them at Portman Road, home of Sheeran's football team, Ipswich Town.
