Man turned up drunk at ex-partner's door

The case was heard at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

Borough magistrates imposed an 18-month restraining order on William Kinvig, 35, for his actions in the Hebburn street, at 8pm on January 9.

He fled when he realised police were fast approaching but made such a poor attempt due to drink he fell over, aiding his own arrest.

Kinvig, of Lawrence Avenue, Whiteleas, initially denied a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
