Howe devastated by Wissa injury as attacker reveals joy over Toon move

Eddie Howe admits he has been left 'devastated' by injury to Yoane Wissa - but insists the attacking star will have an important part to play at Newcastle United.

Wissa joined the Magpies in a £55 million summer move from Brentford.

However, he has been ruled out for the next few weeks after suffering a knee injury on international duty with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Howe is hopeful the player will be left out of his country's squad for matches next month, allowing him to return after October's international break in time for United's Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

"It is impactful and of course everyone wanted Yoane to be fit," Howe said. "There's nothing personally I would have done differently. We did everything we did as a football club to try to look after Yoane.
