PRINCESS ANNE ENJOYS AFTERNOON TEA BEFORE OPENING AFFORDABLE HOMES

THE Princess Royal stopped by a west Kent hamlet this week, enjoying afternoon tea in the pub and officially launching a development of eight new affordable homes.

Princess Anne is patron of English Rural, which built the homes in Bough Beech in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council and Chiddingstone Parish Council. Before launching the new homes on Monday, she enjoyed an afternoon tea-style lunch, laid on by the team at The Wheatsheaf pub.

General manager Marlena described the Princess as “warm and engaging’ and said she admired the historic building's architecture, floral displays, and took time to thank the team for hosting her. It was, she said, “a momentous occasion” for the historic pub, which dates back to 1607.
