'I would never have known my grandad if it wasn't for his heart donor'

SCUNTHORPE MAN, 84, MARKS 30 YEARS SINCE HEART TRANSPLANT

A “huge and significant” milestone for a Scunthorpe family has just been marked with the 30th anniversary of a lifesaving heart transplant for one of their number.

George Robinson is now 84 and has settled into retirement with his wife, Maureen, but in 1995 it could have been a very different story.

His son, Stewart Robinson, and granddaughter, Sarah Richardson, have both spoken about the precious chance at life that George was given through the sacrifice of another.

Stewart said his father had started by becoming breathless at work but had seemed “in very good health” when he (Stewart), who was then serving in the Forces, went away to the Falklands.
