Workers’ rights ‘will be death knell for jobs’

LABOUR’S workers’ rights legislation could cost taxpayers billions of pounds in welfare claims each year, the Tories warn.

Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Helen Whately said the Employment Rights Bill would condemn thousands to claim benefits.

She said: “Conservative estimates suggest hundreds of thousands of jobs could be lost, or never even created, as a result of this Bill.”

Ms Whately, who writes in the Express today, believes the Government should have learned its lesson with its “jobs tax” — the increased costs it has placed on employers.
