Woman who died after fall at beauty spot during Scots weekend heatwave named

A WOMAN who died after falling at a waterfall beauty spot has been named locally as Betty Molloy from Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Campsie Glen in East Dunbartonshire, at around 12.35pm on Saturday.

The 63-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A member of Betty's family confirmed she fell 35ft after she “lost her footing”.

The incident unfolded on Scotland's hottest day of the year as people flocked to beauty spots across the country to enjoy the weather.

Pictures from the scene on Saturday showed the area swarming with police vehicles, ambulances and fire engines, with responders seen gathering in the car park of the beauty spot. The area was cordoned off by police officers.

Tributes have been paid to Betty in the wake of the tragedy.
