We're eating choccie digestives wrong? That takes the biscuit...

CHOCOLATE digestives have turned 100 years old — but the way we have eaten them for 10 decades is upside down, say maker McVitie's.

The nation's favourite biscuit to dunk into a cuppa was launched in 1925 - 33 years after the plain variety.

Both got their name from the belief the baking powder in the recipe would boost consumers' digestion.

But despite the august anniversary — which saw London landmarks being lit with images of the choccie bickie — and 80 million packs being sold each year, Britons are clueless when it comes to consuming it.
