Justin eyes showdown in Ireland at ripe old age of 47

JUSTIN ROSE revealed he is “still hungry" after declaring he wants to play his eighth Ryder Cup in Ireland at the age of 47.

The world No.12 was the oldest player at Bethpage Black last week and the obvious candidate for the captain's job if Luke Donald stands down following his second win.

The Team Europe skipper refused to rule out remaining in post for a third time at Adare Manor in 2027 ~ which will mark the competition's centenary - and said he will give a decision at the start of next year, But Rose can look ahead with optimism about his chances of qualifying to play again, having been in fine form this season. He was edged out in a playoff by Rory McIlroy at The Masters, then won the FedEx St Jude Championships in August.
