Villagers see red over plans for solar farm

RESIDENTS of a picturesque village are outraged over plans for a 50-acre solar farm in the area.

Cavendish, in Suffolk, has been earmarked for the development, which could power up to 6,000 homes.

But locals say their lives will be disrupted by hundreds of lorries passing through to get to the site of the proposed farm.

Many fear it will create traffic and parking chaos, contribute to the loss of wildlife and blight the countryside.

Developers argue the move will provide “positive enhancements to the landscape and character” of the village, which is famous for its 16th-century pink thatched cottages.

Cavendish is home to around 900 people. There are 75 listed buildings, with 21 thatched properties, including the historic pink cottages.
