BRITAIN brimmed with pride as it rolled out the red carpet for President Trump’s second state visit.

The president took clear delight in meeting the King and joining the Royal Family in a carriage procession. He will have been awed by the welcome extended by the 1,300 members of the military taking part in the special Windsor ceremonies.

This is pageantry with a purpose. The United Kingdom and the United States have a common commitment to democracy which they have together defended at immense cost.
