Trump's parting shot: 'I didn't like Nicola, she was terrible at her job'

DONALD TRUMP has branded Nicola Sturgeon a “terrible” First Minister and hinted that he might want a shot at the top job at Holyrood.

He praised First Minister John Swinney but disputed claims by the SNP leader that they discussed tariffs on whisky and other Scottish goods during their meeting on Tuesday.

He told journalists on board Air Force One that the pair “did not really discuss” tariffs during the meeting.

But he said he had “a lot of respect” for Mr Swinney and unprompted, he continued: “I didn’t have a lot of respect for the woman that preceded him.

“I thought she was terrible as a First Minister of Scotland.

“But I think John is doing a very good job as First Minister.”

Trump also proclaimed he could become the next leader of the devolved executive after he steps down as US President as he described how much he loved Scotland.
