TRUMP: TIME FOR PEACE AFTER IRAN'S 'VERY WEAK' ATTACK

DONALD Trump called for world peace last night after Iranian missiles targeting a US air base were shot down.

The weapons heading for Qatar were intercepted over water. President Trump called it “very weak” and congratulated the world, adding it was time for peace. He thanked Tehran for advance warning of the attacks in response to the US targeting Iran's nuclear sites at the weekend and said: "Iran has responded with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered." At least six missiles were launched towards Qatar with more fired into Iraq. Air raid sirens also sounded in neighbouring Bahrain, where the US fifth fleet is headquartered.

Mr Trump rushed to the White House situation room to monitor events. Qatari forces thwarted the attack on the US-run AI Udeid base.

And last night the president raised hopes for de-escalation in Iran's war with Israel, posting on social media: "Regarding the attack today at the American Base in Qatar, I am pleased to report that, in addition to no Americans being killed or wounded, very importantly, there have also been no Qataris killed or wounded.

Thank you for your attention to this matter! "CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT'S TIME FOR PEACE!" The president said there was no damage to the base and he also confirmed that Iran had alerted the US to the incoming strikes. He believed it had "gotten it all out of their system".

Labour inaction lets inflation and shop prices spiral again

YOU MAY have heard that inflation is up. No, this isn't a rerun from last year. It really is up. Again. So much for the “fiscal discipline” and “costed plans” Rachel Reeves bleated on about when she was soliciting votes like a beggar with a tin can. The reality has come to bite: high inflation is back and it's here to stay. And it's ordinary people - working families, renters and small businesses - who are paying the price for this Government's stubborn refusal to change course.
