Tis the season for a brolly on a day of chaos

TORRENTIAL rain brought travel chaos to Scotland yesterday as Christmas shoppers braved bleak conditions on the high street.

The Met Office had an amber warning in place for up to five inches of rain in the south of the country, though this was later relegated to a yellow warning. Environment watchdogs Sepa issued 10 flood alerts plus six more serious flood warnings.

In Ayrshire, the A78 coast road was shut both ways at Inverkip due to flooding.
